About Me

My name is Kara. I have been following a Paleo/Primal Lifestyle since July of 2013. I found the Lifestyle during my own personal search for answers to my ailing health. Although I had been unhealthy for some time, it wasn’t until I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia that I began to seek alternate methods of healing since I had heard Western medications did little to help.

This was also when I discovered I had an embarrassing and debilitating autoimmune disorder that is little known, called Hidradenitis suppurativa. For years, I had been suffering with skin outbreaks, and thought my body was simply hypersensitive to everything. No matter what I did, no matter how much I scrubbed, showered, cleansed, took antibiotics, it never got better. It only got worse and when I came across Tara Grant’s article about it, I was convinced that this was what I had, too.

And it was.

The article, simply changed my life. I took her advice, and began to follow her advice, and in about a month, my boils were gone. My fibromyalgia pain was gone, and my horribly dry eyes and mouth were now normal. I could actually quench my thirst and no longer felt like I had sand in my eyes all the time. I later learned this was something called Sjogren‘s Syndrome. My energy was fantastic, I could sleep, and I felt like a human being. I was a brand new woman who now realized what I had literally been missing MY ENTIRE LIFE because never, not once, had I ever felt this fantastic.

It’s taken me some time, but I am ready to share my journey and my experience in full detail – without shame, without embarrassment, without fault or fear of what any other human being will say. Why? Because I care. I care about you. I care about humanity and I care about life and living it to the fullest. I am Primal Betty – the Essence of Living Well.

  1. Thank you for sharing your journey and for sharing what you have learned to help others. I have Sjogren’s Syndrome and have just started eating AIP/Paleo – always looking for ideas about what to eat and simple recipes and snacks. I’m looking forward to reading your blog. The website looks very nice! Again, thank you! I’m so glad you found a way to be well!

    1. Thank you so much for visiting, Valerie! The site is very young and still has a lot to be added but I hope you will stick around for the construction. I have been working on some recipes and research that I will be adding. I didn’t realize what a long process developing a recipe or researching was until I really took it to heart! I feel strongly enough about it all that it is totally worth it to me because I was so lost when I first started on this journey and really wish I had the resources of others at that time.
